West Brom v Sheffield Utd Betting Preview

West Bromwich Albion travel to Sheffield United on Friday for the lone English Football Championship League game of the day.

Jockeying for Promotion

Both clubs are currently in the top-five of the EFL table with each drawing (8/1) odds to win the league. Needless to say, this should be a tightly contested match with a vital three points on the line as the push for promotion starts to heat up with nearly half of the schedule in the rearview.

West Brom enters six points back of top-of-the table Norwich City, but have goal differential of (+14), good enough for second in the league. Sheffield United is five points back with a goal differential of (+10).

Strength on Strength

The Blades have done a very good job defensively this year, currently top-five in goals conceded, but will get a stout test here on Friday against the Baggies who have scored more goals than any team in the EFL this season. West Brom’s defense, on the other hand, has been porous at times throughout the year and will need a good effort here to get a result on the road.

Infogol suggests that Sheffield United has a 50 percent chance to win the game, which would give a Blades backer a perceived edge of 6.5 percent against the market numbers listed below.

While that could prove to be the right side here, West Brom is definitely capable of pulling off the upset. Earlier in the season they were able to win their toughest road contest of the year in a 4-3 thriller against Norwich City.

Odds to Win

Sheffield United: 13/10 (Implied probability: 43.5%)

West Brom: 20/9 (Implied probability: 31%)

Draw: 45/17 (Implied probability: 27.4%)
