UFC 231 is happening in three days time at Canada’s Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, with the main card highlights featuring featherweights Max Holloway vs. Brian Ortega and women’s flyweights Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Valentina Shevchenko. Paddy Power is offering a good deal on Holloway to win at 8/11.
Holloway is largely touted as the favorite to win in the main fight despite Ortega’s string of wins recently. This is likely due to his ability to handle better under pressure and his impressive form against Jose Aldo recently. Excitingly, both fighters will enter the match undefeated – a statistic that is guaranteed to change on the night. SportsInt have Holloway to win on -125 and Ortega on an even +100.
Shevchenko hasn’t had the best 2018, with two of her biggest fights this year, Montano and Eubanks, falling through. This means she may be entering the ring slightly out of practice against ex-strawweight queen Jedrzejczyk, who will be fighting to claim her place as the first two-division women’s champion. Both Bookmaker and Bovada currently have Shevchenko as the clear favorite to win with -365 against Jedrzejczyk’s +275.
Other Fights to Not Miss
Other highlights include light heavyweight Jimi Manuwa who is finally facing up against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu star Thiago Santos after an injury to Manuwa canceled their previous meeting. Bet365 has Santos to win at -213 against Manuwa at +175.
One to watch on the undercard is popular favorite Elias Theodorou in his bout with Eryk Anders who was recently KO’d by Santos. While Theodorou is a good fighter, his previous wins have all been against slow grapplers – if Anders can stay on his toes he could be in for a win. 5Dimes and SportsInt have Theodorou at -125 and Anders on +105.
