The English Premier League resumes on September 15, so it’s a good time to look at the latest odds from Ladbrokes on the next manager to leave his club market and it’s not good news for West Ham United fans.
Jose Mourinho remains the 3/1 favourite, but his odds have lengthened after the 2-0 win at Burnley at the weekend. The new second favourite is West Ham’s Manuel Pellegrini, who only joined the Hammers in the summer. He was 10/1 at the start of the season, but four straight Premier league defeats have seen his odds fall to 7/2. The Hammers have tough games against Everton, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham on the horizon and as Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Aparti says: “Pellegrini is fast approaching must-win territory for the Hammers. “
Benitez to Leave Newcastle?
Only three other managers have single-figure odds at present. Mark Hughes is 6/1 but won two games last week so looks safe for a while. At 7/1 is Rafa Benitez, who could be worth a bet. Lots of problems with owner Mike Ashley and no wins so far this season. A good offer from another club might tempt him away. Cardiff City are yet to win in the Premier League and he’s 8/1 to be the next to leave his club. They have upcoming games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham so the pressure for results will grow on Warnock.
Outside bets could be Roy Hodgson (20/1) as Crystal Palace have lost their last three league games. They have a reasonable fixture list coming up, but poor results may see a change of management. Then there’s Sean Dyche (20/1) with Burnley out of the Europa League and in the bottom three of the Premier League.
