Manchester United 2/5 to Beat Bournemouth?

Manchester United host Bournemouth in the last Premier League match of 2018, kick-off at 17:30, with United firm favourite at 2/5.

Howe’s Had a Tough Time

Bournemouth’s 17/2 price reflects their current form. After an unbeaten October, they’ve lost 7 out of nine Premier League matches which started with a home loss to United. Marcus Rashford scored the winner in the 90 + 2nd minute. Manager Eddie Howe will have felt aggrieved that day but his team is leaking goals. Spurs put 5 passed them last week. Liverpool smashed them 0-4 at home and Manchester City beat them 3-1. Arsenal, and as mentioned Manchester United, also beat them on this run. That said it’s been a tough period for Howe’s team and maybe they can find a way to exact some revenge for their home defeat to United back in early November.

Return of the Old Guard

Manchester United, with Micky Phelan, sat next to Ole Gunnar Solskjær in the dugout and Sir Alex looking on in the stand; appear to have turned a corner since the dark depressive days of José Mourinho. Ole might be just keeping the seat warm but he’s created a good feel factor and two wins on the bounce has helped. United have lost only 2 of their last 10, away at Liverpool and Manchester City, and they’ve won 3 of their last four. Away at Cardiff and home to Fulham and Huddersfield.

David Brooks – To Spoil the Party?

Current form, plus the regrouping of the old brigade tick a lot of boxes which suggest United will finish the calendar year with an easy 3 points. But Bournemouth will be out to spoil the party and they have a very capable match winner in 21 year old Welsh international David Brooks who spent 10 years on Manchester City’s books. He could be a big influence and help Bournemouth to at least a draw.
