Ben Pauling joins Black Type

Welcome aboard written on a memo stick

UK bookmaker BlackType.bet, which specialises in horse racing betting, has announced that it has appointed double Grade One-winning trainer, Ben Pauling, as its new ambassador for the 2018/19 National Hunt season, which began in earnest earlier this month.

In announcing the appointment, Black Type said that the organisation was delighted to have joined up with one of the most promising young trainers in UK racing, and also revealed that Pauling would be providing Black Type’s customers with insight and content throughout the National Hunt season.

Pauling’s training career got underway in 2013 but prior to that year, he had spent six years as assistant to Nicky Henderson, the five-time Champion Trainer. Pauling enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2016-17 when he saddled Willoughby Court to win the Grade One Neptune Novice Hurdle at the world-famous Cheltenham Festival.

Quality of horses

Speaking about the arrangement with Pauling, the Head of Operations at Black Type, Stephen Davison, said that they were delighted to welcome him to the team:

He is a trainer that has achieved a huge amount in a short space of time, and with the quality of horses at his disposal, we can’t wait to see what the upcoming season holds.”

Pauling currently trains some of UK Racing’s most exciting prospects, including A Hare Breath, who has enjoyed Listed success at Sandown; Silver Plate Hurdle winner Kildisart and Global Citizen, who won the Grade 2 Dovecote Novice Hurdle at Kempton last year.

Commenting on his new relationship with Black Type, Pauling said that he and his team were looking ahead to the new season, and that he would be supplying a weekly column for the bookmaker discussing his weekend entrants throughout the campaign.
