25/1 Harry Kane is Named 2019 BBC Sports Personality of the Year

winner concept

2018 has been another successful year for Harry Kane but could 2019 be even better? At SkyBet, you can get odds of 25/1 on him being named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year and he could well be a contender.

This year saw the Tottenham striker finish third in the vote for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. Another prolific scoring year saw him win the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup. Never has so much been won for scoring a handful of goals against Panama and Tunisia. Shame he missed all those chances in the knock-out stages or he could well have won the award this year.

Glory in Portugal?

2019 will give Kane several opportunities to again hit the headlines.  England have reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League being played in Portugal next June. If he was to score the winning goal in the final, then those current odds of 25/1 are bound to tumble. A successful start to the European Championships qualifiers wouldn’t do him any harm either.

Tottenham Chasing Four Trophies

Then there’s Tottenham to consider and 2019 could be a big year for them. Not only because the builders might finally finish their new stadium or the fact, they may well lose their manager to Manchester United. Spurs will begin in the year challenging in four competitions. They are already in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, in the knock-out stages of the Champions League, still in the FA Cup and second in the English Premier League.

If Kane can keep scoring goals and lead Tottenham to victory in at least one competition – most likely the Carabao Cup – then that could win him a few more votes.  A British cyclist not winning the Tour de France would be helpful too as Kane bids to become the first footballer to win the award since
