The Gaming Operator And Football Club Will Partner For An Extra Three Years
The online gambling operator Betway has announced an extension to their current sponsorship deal with the English Premier League (EPL) football club West Ham United in a deal that has been described as the biggest in West Ham’s history.
The new three year sponsorship extension will see the two partner together until the end of the 2019-20 Premier League season, and it would appear that the new agreement is for a financial sum greater than the original amount that was agreed to between the parties when they first got together in February 2015.
The original deal came about when Betway took over from the Alpari Group and CFD who were forced to withdraw due to financial limitations, and at the time a figure of £20m for three years was mooted to be the price for Betway to enjoy a prime sponsorship position on West Ham’s playing shirt strip.
This new sponsorship arrangement coincides with the beginning of the 2016-2017 English Premier League season and it follows on from similar deals struck between gaming operators and EPL teams including the likes of Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur.
Comment From Betway
Upon the announcement of the new sponsorship arrangement Mr Anthony Werkman, who acts in the role of Marketing Director at Betway, said that the new agreement spoke of the confidence and excitement that currently surrounds West Ham United as the 2016-2017 EPL season gets underway.
Mr Werkman added that since the two first came together in February 2015 the partnership had been a great success for both parties, who were keen to affirm their positive relationship by signing an extension agreement earlier than expected and for an extended amount of time.
Comment From West Ham United
Ms Karren Brady, who acts in the role of Vice Chairman at West Ham United, welcomed the new sponsorship deal as proof of the success and positive steps that have been undertaken by the club, and that West Ham were delighted to extend their working relationship with Betway in what was the biggest -ever commercial agreement signed by the club.
Ms Brady added that the revenue that will be generated by the new sponsorship deal will allow for further reinvestment in the West Ham United playing squad which in turn should see the club enjoy more success in the upcoming years and many more to come.
